Harris-Walz Economic Policies Widely Criticized

Updated: Aug 17

On August 16, 2014, Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled her economic plan in first big policy rollout. She advocates tor many big government “handouts,” including

·        Use taxpayer’s money to provide free cash to first-time home buyers and middle-income families having children;

·        Use taxpayer’s money “to cancel debt for million of Americans and to help them avoid accumulating such debt in the future;

She also proposed a controversial plan to fix prices on groceries by working with Congress to ban “price gouging.”

However, her economic plan faced widespread criticism from economists and politicians across the political spectrum. Some argue that using taxpayer money for these initiatives amounts to “buying votes.” According to Fox News, several economic commentators warned that Harris’ price control plan had already been attempted and failed in countries like Venezuela, Argentina, and the Soviet Union. Even CNN economists criticized her plan (see the picture). The liberal-leaning Washington Post published a column titled “The Times Demand Serious Economic Ideas. Harris Supplies Gimmicks.”
